AKS’s residential work covers a wide variety of styles and concepts – from traditional Tudor houses and quaint cottages to Mediterranean and Northwest Classic and Urban. The foundation of our residential work is the special attention given to proportion, scale, balance and the focus on respect for the land and the climate of the site. It is important that our work portray an elevated level of simplicity, continuity and timelessness.
Geographically, AKS has designed houses in Hawaii, Japan, Turkey, and Mexico and throughout the United States, with over 350 residences in the Puget Sound area.
While most of the firm’s work is on premiere view and/or waterfront properties, the design solutions are responsive to the owner’s needs, requirements and budget, with respect to the site’s special amenities – slope, vegetation and view. A special effort is made to identify and respect a region’s climatic conditions, indigenous building techniques and cultural characteristics.
AKS has been designing quality single family homes for over 45 years. Tours of some homes in the Puget Sound region can be arranged.
